public class Pipe_SquareRoot

extends Logic

General Description

Pipeline version of floating point square-rooter with generic exponent and mantissa sizes.

Pipe_SquareRoot takes in exponent and mantissa of the floating point radicand. It outputs the mantissa and exponent of the square-root.

Pipe_SquareRoot currently supports IEEE default rounding mode - "round to nearest even". Pipe_SquareRoot supports normal numbers, zeros, infinities, and not-a-number types. Denormalized numbers are not supported, and give an undefined result.

Usage Examples:

First, you must import the Logic.Modules.FloatingPoint package:
import byucc.jhdl.Logic.Modules.FloatingPoint.*;

To instance a Pipe_SquareRoot the following constructor would be used:
new Pipe_SquareRoot(this, ein, fin, eout, fout, instanceName);
